The Lightship

Our Swedish Lightship “Västra Banken” was built in 1900. From 1923 to 1970 the lightship served on the Västra Banken station in the Baltic Sea off Gävle, Sweden, north of Stockholm. After deactivation, the lightship was sold as a restaurant. In 1999 it was sold again and moved to Stockholm as a houseboat. In November 2005 it was sold a third time, to the owners of Le Phare Bleu. The ship was towed to Rostock, Germany, to be restored and re-equipped. It was then loaded on the MV Schippersgracht and carried to the West Indies, arriving at the new marina and its final home in December 2006.

The Lightship is truly a unique setting, where you can enjoy a sundowner, live music and a light bite to eat. The “Rum Bar” showcases craft rum cocktails as well as a variety of other concoctions.

Jim Jardine, the guy behind Summer Juice in Grenada, obviously has too much time on his hands as he has started the first official Gin & Vodka distillery in Grenada using tropical ingredients. Jim is passionate about the blend and the process of distilling.

We are pleased to have Blue Light Distillery located at Le Phare Bleu. Our craft cocktails will now feature these unique spirits.
